We're On The Hunt For A New Head Of Fans

MatchPint are hiring!

We're on the hunt for a new Head of Fans who will be responsible for growing and engaging MatchPint's community of sports fans.

Marketing experience? Want to work in sport? Then read on my friend...

So, what is MatchPint?

MatchPint is a platform that connects Sports Fans, Pubs and Brands. Formed in 2011, we're a tech startup with a team of 15 young professionals working in their dream industries - sport and pubs.

And, why do we exist?

It's pretty simple really. We exist to 'bring people together over sport'. We were founded on three simple beliefs:

  • Sport is the ultimate form of theatre - Shakespeare himself couldn't have conjured up Zidane nutting Materazzi into next week if he'd tried.
  • Sporting drama is amplified when viewed socially - nothing causes people to spontaneously hug tubby, balding strangers quite like a 93rd minute winner.
  • Pubs are the cornerstone of British life - Watching the Champions League final at the gym? Absolutely not on.

What role does the Fan department play in this?

The fan department exists to be "your best mate for sports in pubs".

Through our websiteapps, comms and content, we help fans:

  • Never miss a big game with mates - find which pubs are showing the game they want to watch
  • Get rewarded for watching sport in the pub - redeem exclusive food and drink offers in the pub
  • Kick off the conversation - create great sporting content that keeps the discussion rolling beyond full time

Engagement and growth in the fan product is core to the development of the business over the coming years and will ultimately underpin the value we are able to drive for pubs and brands in the long term.

And what exactly is the role?

The Head of Fans is required to manage all aspects of the sports fan department, strategy and activities to build an engaged community of sports fans.

In short, you'll be responsible for delivering a stellar fan experience on MatchPint.

Breaking it down, the role can be summarised as follows:

  • Take ownership of delivering an A-Grade experience for sports fans on MatchPint - right the way from content to product
  • Define and execute the department's brand and marketing strategy
  • Work with the Head of Content to define and implement Fan content at MatchPint
  • Work with the Product team to deliver a product that will 'delight' fans
  • Work with the Brand team to ensure we are pitching Brand Campaigns to clients that will "make fans talk"
  • Work with the Pub team to ensure that we are driving value for our on-trade clients
  • Build partnerships that help the department deliver on it's objectives

Why should I be excited?

  • Be part of a great team - â€‹join our talented and ambitious team, who all share a passion for sport
  • Help build something new and disruptive - we're already making good progress here, having been listed in Marketing Week's Top 100 Disruptive Brands 2016
  • Engage fans with a product they already love - last week we were recognised as one of T3's Top 7 Sports Apps
  • And, crucially, take ownership over how the product develops to the next level

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have 3+ years of marketing (or similar) experience - ideally within a digital firm
  • Take a creative approach to problem solving
  • Be able to set, and execute, a clear strategic direction for the department
  • Have a strong record of managing a team to deliver targets
  • Be comfortable working with numbers
  • Be a clear communicator
  • Live in London or within reasonable commuting distance
  • Have a genuine passion for sport
