MatchPint, the biggest network of sports fans, pubs, and drinks brands in the UK & Ireland, is growing quickly and looking to sign more top talent in Ireland. We’re looking for a passionate sports fan, full of drive and ambition, to join our team as Country Coordinator, responsible for optimising MatchPint’s growth across the Island of Ireland.
Following a successful proof of concept in Northern Ireland in January 2019, MatchPint began rolling out its app, website, and SaaS platform for pubs across the country in April. The ambition over the next twelve months is significant:
To grow the number of pubs using MatchPint on the Island of Ireland from 350 to 1,500.
To deliver ground-breaking campaigns in partnership with Guinness (Rugby World Cup & Six Nations) and Budweiser (Premier League).
To become a household name amongst sports fans.
To have a profitable P&L.
This is an amazing opportunity for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset to develop a massive range of skills – from project delivery and account management, to marketing strategy and business leadership. This is your chance to help grow an exciting platform from limited awareness to a household name across the country.
Hang on, what is MatchPint?
MatchPint is a app and website that brings people together to watch sport. Why? Because we believe that watching sport with friends is so much better than streaming it on your own, in bed, with last night’s cold takeaway. We’ve been using technology to bring fans together and experience sport at its best since 2011.
Here at MatchPint, we think the pub is a pretty good place to start: a great atmosphere, ice cold drinks, pub grub, and all the craic. While part of our mission is functional - to help fans find these pubs - the other is emotional - to ensure their experience, once there, is the best it can be.
This is an amazing time to join the MatchPint team with plans to build on +100% year on year growth. This will involve venturing into new countries and building new viewing occasions into our mission to bring people together and enjoy sport at its very best.
Who do we work with and what do we do?
Fans use MatchPint’s app and website to find out which pubs are showing which sports events. It's great. 1.9M unique people have used MatchPint to find a pub in the UK in the last 12 months. Since launching in January, more than 50k fans have used MatchPint in Ireland.
Pubs use MatchPint's sports content management system to organise, market, and measure the success of their sports offering. Nearly 3,000 pubs are using MatchPint to drive their business forward in the UK. Since launching in January, 350 pubs have joined MatchPint in Ireland.
Brands work with MatchPint to provide an even better sporting experience for pubs and fans. Guinness, Budweiser, Heineken, Carlsberg and Carling all use MatchPint to encourage people to visit pubs through content, increase engagement through gamification mechanics, and drive rate of sale with offers and vouchers redeemable on the MatchPint app. MatchPint has a twelve month agreement with Diageo to activate rugby (Guinness) and Premier League football (Budweiser).
And what's the role?
You are responsible for optimising MatchPint’s growth strategy on the Island of Ireland, supporting the threefold three-strong Business Development team (Belfast, Dublin, and Cork), liaising with our key stakeholders at Diageo, working with the London-based marketing team to deliver brilliant local marketing strategies, and reporting territory performance into MatchPint’s senior management team.
What will you be doing?
Sales support– working with the business development team to identify leads, raising awareness via B2B marketing channels, and analysing existing customer behaviour to optimise sales performance.
Customer support– responding to inbound customer queries (email, web chat, and phone) and reaching out to customers when appropriate (e.g. activation opportunities, BDM training visits).
Account management– meeting and communicating with Diageo’s team in Ireland to report on campaign performance, identifying and executing opportunities to optimise performance.
Trade marketing– gathering feedback from BDMs and customers before briefing MatchPint’s marketing team to create local iterations of global brand assets. Managing local artwork requests and identifying areas for more effective in-venue marketing. Managing point of sale drops up to four times a year.
Content– ensuring content is locally relevant by maintaining website content, sourcing content producers in Ireland, collating best pub lists in certain areas, and capturing pub generated content.
Event management– sourcing and managing B2B or B2C events that help promote MatchPint.
Performance reporting– assisting MatchPint’s senior management team in identifying market goals and targets, then producing weekly reports on performance against these targets.
Why should I be excited?
Be part of a great team - join a team of young, ambitious, and motivated individuals.
Help build something new and disruptive – we’ve made amazing progress in the UK and want to work with someone eager to replicate that – or even beat it – in Ireland.
