With Japan 2019 rolling around faster than a Doug Howlett under-lap, we thought it was high time we had a think about some of the pubs we’re most excited about watching the Rugby World Cup in this Autumn. Whatever it is that floats your boat – from homecooked grub to locally sourced ales, spacious beer gardens with outdoor screens to cosy old fashioned drinking dens, you’re sure to find your perfect vantage point. With the action being beamed live from the other side of the earth, most of the games are kicking off at rather ungodly hours. But that’s no excuse not to dig out those old bits of chain mail, kilts, daffodil costumes or whatever other choice inventory you simply have to wear for the greatest show on earth. Thankfully, in spite of the time difference, the good folks who run those supremely important community institutions we call pubs are going the extra mile to ensure that this is a party you won’t forget, at least not before your 8th pint of Guinness. What is certain is that there are a whole host of pubs clammin to serve up plates of full English breakfast and pitchers of pints to us slightly bombastic rugby revellers.
