Excitement is off the charts this year following Murray's 2013 success, but with Nadal playing like a man posessed and plenty of young talent breaking through the ranks (check out Sharapova's new man - he can really knock the ball about); this tournament looks to be one of the toughest yet.
As our landlords update their own fixture list you can rest assured that if its down as showing the competition; it will certainly be televising all of the Pimms, strawberries, oversized hats, and tennis that you're after. Once the schedule is up for the day, pubs can decide their own individual fixtures so that you can choose the head-to-heads that you want without dithering about in front of some court 13 action.
If you're still stuck for a place to watch, here are three recommendations:
The Slug in Wimbledon: Just by train station lies the Slug, a pub with a large crowd from the southern hemisphere who are consistantly friendly and lively. They're big on their sport (and their beer!), and offer the perfect place to wind down after a day's play before you catch the train home.
The Durrel Arms in Fulham: Quiet, relaxed and welcoming, this Fulham institution has developed a reputation for annual events like Wimbledon in recent years. They really get in the spirit of things; having the big games up on their projector screen and even hosting a couple of Wii tennis competitions in recent times - smashing.
The Burlington near Oxford Circus: One for you fellas/ladies who are after a bit of retails therapy or a quiet drink after work in the West End. To its great credit, the Burlington is not known throughout the land as a bona fide sports pub, given it doesn't show Sky Sports every waking hour. When there's a key tournie on, however, they dust off the cobwebs and welcome allcomers with an outstanding selection of beers, ales, wines and - you guessed it - Pimms to lap up in the sunshine!
